The apprenticeship is the most crucial part of your training to become a carpenter. This normally takes a period of four years of mostly practical and on the job training. It has theoretical component to it as well, as the apprentice is required to attend a TAFE while under training.

You should keep in mind that this form of training has a tremendous advantage over others. Your full training is paid, because you are working already.
